Are you a Ph.D. student that’s interested in the social web and internet technology? Facebook has launched a new initiative, first announced today, called the “Facebook Fellowship Program”. The program is for Ph.D. students in the 2010-2011 school year, for students in specific topical areas. There is a $30K stipend paid over 9 month, as well as $5K per year for conference attendance and travel and $5K towards a personal computer (yes you’ll have a nice new computer for $5K).
Facebook is looking to recruit Ph.D. students focused on the following topics:
* Internet Economics
* Cloud Computing
* Social Computing
* Data Mining and Machine Learning
* Systems
* Information Retrieval
It’s an incredible opportunity for Ph.D. The application deadline is February 15th and recipients will be notified of their acceptance on March 29th. Applications will include a 1 to 2 page research summary. If you are interested in participating in the fellowship program, you can learn more via the Facebook Careers page. If I was a graduate student I would most definitely apply to this program!
